Owner/Operator

My name is A. Grace McNabb

I am so pleased you stopped by and looked at my page! I am originally from Collingwood, Ontario, which explains the constant travel to and from there and my current home just outside of Edmonton, Alberta. Having grown up with debilitating mobility issues, photography had been a passion, but not an attainable goal. After 18 years of immobility I was given a diagnosis that gifted me with limitless independence, which I don't take lightly. With my new found get-up-and-go, I decided to create the life of my dreams; homesteading, photography and WAY too many puppies! I appreciate the opportunity to work with each client that smiles into my lens, knowing it wouldn't have been possible without a little faith and a WHOLE LOT of pixie dust.

Introduction Blog

I love spring and everything that comes with it. There is a certain feeling of rebirth and regeneration that comes with the fresh air, sounds of the birds and the first grass cutting of thew season - the only one we don't mind doing.

Living on an acreage, I get a whole new level of springtime dopamine. The sun seems to shine a little brighter over the animals playing, sprouts seem to pop up just a little quicker, and the dew in the morning leaves the ground with a permanent smell of summertime picnic. Something I have loved since homesteading on the farmers field of my dreams.

Before there's some distorted vision, I don't live like Anne of Green Gables. My property was a crop field, which means every piece of grass I have now was grown over the course of a four year period where I fought night and day to counteract the chemicals used to keep the fields grass-free. The trees lined my property, refusing to take root in the hard, lifeless soil, and my only understanding of "country living" was the magazine on the shelf I'd glance at while paying for groceries. Learning to homestead did not come naturally, nor was it a winning battle the majority of the time. Without a clue, I figured it out eventually though... for the most part. Which meant mornings could be enjoyed with a little less anxiety and a little more relaxation.

The acreage, like most things in my current life, were an impossible dream for the part-time wheelchair operator I had been growing up. But since life decided to give my mobility a mulligan, I wasn't looking back to see where my spliced ball had landed. I was determined to do everything I thought as unachievable. Included in that list was photography.

Aside from my disorder limiting my lower limb mobility, it caused uncontrolled spasms and a steady tremor in my upper limbs. I'm not sure if you've ever tried it, but holding a camera on a jack hammer doesn't make for very nice photos... and neither did my tremors. Fortunate for me, I was patient. I invested time into the craft of photography and regardless of my limitations pushed forward with my love of nature photography; fearing portrait photography due the judgement I might face doing so.

Taking my first photography course in 2014, I began the uphill battle of knowledge and experience. Claiming my diploma, I kept my passion alive focusing on film photography, which I still consider my favourite variant of the trade.

Once given my diagnosis and stilling the violence of my tremors , I upgraded my photography courses investing in programs offered through National Geographic, The Photography Institute, and The Photography School of Canada. Enjoying course upgrades with a main focus in fashion photography, photography design and portrait photography. Paired with Business Marketing education, I truly see the need for photography in our growing digital society.

Which led me here, to the decision to create a website for myself and open my client base further, which admittedly I didn't think I'd ever do. After the recent and sudden passing of my uncle, who shared a passion for film photography with me, I was reminded of the fragility of life. Motivated, I created this site and hope to carry the legacy of my Uncle Pete with me in the lenses he gave me on my last trip to his house a few months ago.

I hope you subscribe and follow along as I go, a good journey is always made better by good company.
